# Anthropic Commits Over $100 Billion to Amazon Web Services Ahead of IPO

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Anthropic has entered a decade-long cloud computing agreement with Amazon Web Services exceeding $100 billion, a deal that will be detailed in the company's upcoming IPO prospectus.

Anthropic has pledged more than $100 billion to Amazon Web Services over the next ten years. In exchange for this commitment, the developer of Claude AI will receive access to as much as 5 gigawatts of compute capacity, utilizing Amazon's custom Trainium2 through Trainium4 chips and Graviton processors.

The financial structure of this agreement is expected to be disclosed in the company's S-1 registration statement, which was filed confidentially with the SEC on June 1. A public release of the prospectus is anticipated following Labor Day, potentially leading to a market listing in late September or October.

The scale of this partnership reflects a significant shift in the company's financial performance. By the end of July, Anthropic reached an annualized revenue run rate of more than $65 billion, an increase from approximately $9 billion at the beginning of the year.

Amazon's involvement extends beyond cloud services. The company made a $5 billion investment on April 20, adding to an existing $8 billion stake. An additional $20 billion may be invested based on performance milestones, which are expected to be outlined in the prospectus. These combined figures could bring Amazon's total investment to $33 billion.

The commitment from Anthropic contributes to the AWS backlog, which stood at approximately $496 billion as of June 30. Despite the size of the agreement, Anthropic continues to utilize a multi-cloud strategy, maintaining engagements with Google Cloud to ensure redundancy and negotiation leverage.

The upcoming IPO prospectus is expected to clarify the nature of the $100 billion-plus commitment, specifically regarding the balance between fixed and variable costs, as well as the details surrounding the performance milestones tied to Amazon's potential additional investment.
