# Bitget Reports 131% Reserve Ratio Following Security Breach

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Bitget released its 47th consecutive proof of reserves report, showing a 131% ratio across 19 assets just days after a $387.5 million security incident.

Bitget published its latest proof of reserves snapshot on September 29, reporting a total reserve ratio of 131%. The data indicates the exchange holds approximately $1.31 for every $1 of user deposits.

The report arrives five days after a security breach on September 24, which resulted in $387.5 million in unauthorized transfers from the exchange's hot and warm wallets. CEO Gracy Chen stated that user balances and cold wallets remained unaffected by the incident.

The snapshot covers 19 digital assets, an expansion from the four assets previously tracked. All 19 assets maintained a reserve ratio exceeding 100%. NEAR led with 181%, followed by XAUT at 172% and SOL at 157%. Other holdings included USDC at 154%, BTC at 142%, ETH at 110%, and BNB at 104%.

Bitget's reserve ratios have historically fluctuated between 122% and 135% this year, with a mid-September report showing 135%. The current 131% figure remains above the 100% threshold required for full backing.

The exchange utilizes a Merkle Tree cryptographic structure for its proof of reserves, allowing users to verify their assets independently. This marks the 47th consecutive month of reporting, a practice initiated in December 2022.

Bitget’s User Protection Fund, which is valued between $382 million and $464 million, is intended to cover losses from incidents such as the September 24 breach. While the fund is sufficient to cover the reported losses, the exchange has not provided a timeline for recovery or compensation.
