# Bitget Restores Protection Fund to Over $300 Million Following Security Breach

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Bitget has replenished its Protection Fund to more than $300 million after the fund absorbed the impact of a security breach on Sept. 24.

Bitget announced on Sept. 30 that its Protection Fund is back above the $300 million mark. The exchange stated that the fund successfully absorbed approximately $388 million in financial impact from the Sept. 24 security breach.

The exchange noted that the replenishment was completed two days ahead of its Sept. 28 pledge to restore the fund within a week. Bitget maintains that the Protection Fund serves as an additional safeguard for customers and remains separate from the reserves that back individual account balances.

While the fund has been restored, Bitget clarified that the assessment process for user claims remains in place. Users may submit claims for assets lost or stolen due to platform-wide events, but the exchange retains the right to investigate accounts and determine the outcome of each claim. Eligibility to submit a request does not guarantee that a user will be reimbursed.

Regarding platform operations, Bitget reported that USDT withdrawals are now open across Ethereum, BSC, Solana, and Tron. The exchange expects to restore remaining cryptocurrency, fiat, and peer-to-peer services on Oct. 2 at 08:00 UTC.

Bitget also highlighted its reserve report from Sept. 29, which showed a 131% ratio across 19 covered assets. However, the exchange noted that these reports are not audits and do not account for potential liabilities or borrowed assets.
