# Coinbase and Moov Partner to Bring Stablecoin Payments to Community Banks

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Coinbase and payments platform Moov have announced a partnership to integrate stablecoin infrastructure into community banks and credit unions, allowing these institutions to offer crypto-based payment services to their business customers.

Coinbase and the payments platform Moov have teamed up to provide community banks and credit unions with the infrastructure needed to offer stablecoin services. The partnership, announced Sept. 10, aims to keep local financial institutions as the primary point of contact for business customers who want to use stablecoins.

Under the new arrangement, Moov will integrate Coinbase’s stablecoin payments infrastructure into its existing platform. Coinbase will provide its CDP Custodial Wallet accounts for fund custody and its Payments API to manage stablecoin movement. Moov will then connect these tools to the systems already used by its network of community banks and credit unions.

Moov CEO Wade Arnold noted that business customers have been looking outside their primary financial institutions to access stablecoin services. This partnership is designed to bring that functionality directly into the bank's existing payments experience, potentially helping these institutions maintain their customer relationships.

While the partnership provides a technical framework, many details regarding the economics of the arrangement remain undisclosed. The companies have not yet shared information on fees, revenue sharing, data rights, compliance duties, or liability. Additionally, there is no set timetable for implementation, and the number of institutions currently contracted or piloting the service remains unquantified.

The integration creates a multi-layered service model where the bank manages the customer relationship, Moov provides the platform connection, and Coinbase handles the underlying crypto custody and movement. The actual impact on bank deposits remains uncertain, as it depends on where stablecoin issuers hold their reserves and how customers choose to convert their funds.

A Federal Reserve analysis from December 2025 indicated that stablecoins could restructure or reduce bank deposits depending on how reserves are managed. Furthermore, an April 2026 proposal from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation noted that stablecoin holders would not receive pass-through insurance on issuer reserve deposits held at banks.

The success of this initiative will depend on how individual banks manage the operational and economic terms of the service. Future deployments will clarify whether these institutions can retain control over pricing and settlement while providing stablecoin access to their clients.
