# Ethereum Climbs to 61st Largest Global Asset by Market Cap

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Ethereum has recovered to the 61st spot among the world's largest assets by market capitalization, reflecting a volatile year of price action driven by macroeconomic shifts.

Ethereum has climbed to 61st place in the global rankings of assets by market capitalization. This move marks a recovery from earlier in the year when the asset fluctuated near the bottom of the top 100 list.

The asset's performance throughout 2026 has been volatile. In late June, Ethereum's valuation dropped to between $192 billion and $197 billion, causing it to slip below the top 100 threshold. By early July, it had recovered to the 93rd to 95th range with a market cap of approximately $215 billion to $216 billion.

Earlier this year, Ethereum reached as high as 56th place on January 31 with a market cap of roughly $305 billion. This peak was followed by a 14.43% weekly decline that pushed the asset down the rankings.

As of mid-September, Ethereum prices traded between $2,500 and $2,600, pushing its market cap back above $300 billion. This recovery was supported by U.S. inflation data that influenced broader market risk sentiment, rather than any specific network upgrade or ecosystem event.

Ethereum first entered the global top 100 in January 2021, when it debuted at 97th with a market cap of about $132 billion. During the current period, Bitcoin has maintained a position around 15th among global assets.

The circulating supply of Ethereum was approximately 120.68 million tokens in early July 2026, increasing to about 122 million by September.

These shifts in ranking demonstrate Ethereum's sensitivity to macroeconomic factors such as interest rate expectations and general risk appetite. The movement between the mid-50s and the bottom of the top 100 suggests this range is a recurring zone for the asset under current market conditions.
