# Hyperliquid Prepares $14.58M USDC Yield for HYPE Buybacks

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Hyperliquid is set to transfer approximately $14.58 million in USDC yield to its Assistance Fund, marking the first buyback funding generated from stablecoin deposits rather than trading fees.

Hyperliquid is moving to diversify its HYPE buyback funding by utilizing yield generated from USDC reserves. As of October 3, 2026, a payment of approximately $14.58 million in USDC is pending transfer to the Hyperliquid Assistance Fund, aligning with market expectations of roughly $15 million.

This initiative operates under the AQAv2 framework, which was approved by validators on June 12, 2026, with 69.08% support. Under this model, about 90% of the net yield from USDC reserves is directed to the Assistance Fund to facilitate the open-market purchase and burning of HYPE tokens. The yield accumulation for this initial payment began on August 26, 2026.

The mechanism relies on Coinbase as the official USDC treasury deployer and Circle for technical deployments, maintaining a 1:9 technical-to-treasury balance requirement. With current reserves estimated between $5 billion and $6.7 billion and yields at approximately 3%, the protocol projects annual buyback funding from reserves to reach between $135 million and $200 million.

This new stream complements the existing buyback model, which funnels approximately 99% of trading fees into the Assistance Fund. Estimates suggest that annual buyback capacity from trading fees is around $771 million, bringing the total estimated annual capacity to over $900 million when combined with the USDC yield.

To date, the Assistance Fund has acquired approximately 45 million HYPE tokens for about $1.1 billion at lower prices, with cumulative burns reaching hundreds of millions of tokens since the project's late 2024 launch.

The shift to include yield-based funding provides a revenue source that remains active even during periods of lower trading volume, as stablecoin collateral often remains on the exchange between positions. Traders are now watching for the completion of the pending $14.58 million transfer to observe the practical impact of this new buying pressure on the market.
