# Moonshot AI Reaches $50 Billion Valuation Ahead of Planned Hong Kong IPO

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Beijing-based startup Moonshot AI has secured a $50 billion valuation following a rapid series of funding rounds and is preparing for a public listing in Hong Kong by early 2027.

Moonshot AI has reached a $50 billion valuation, marking a significant increase from its $35 billion post-money valuation in July 2026. The Beijing-based startup, known for its Kimi large language models, has now raised over $5.5 billion in total capital.

The company is planning a public listing in Hong Kong, with a confidential filing aiming to raise approximately $3 billion. Underwriters for the offering include Goldman Sachs, CICC, and Deutsche Bank. While the listing is targeted for early 2027, the window could potentially open as early as late 2026.

Moonshot AI's valuation trajectory has been rapid. At the end of 2025, the company was valued at around $4.3 billion. By May 2026, it raised over $2 billion at a $20 billion valuation, followed by the July 2026 round. The current valuation represents more than 160 times the company's annualized recurring revenue, which reached approximately $300 million by June 2026, up from $200 million in April.

The firm's growth is driven by its Kimi model family. The flagship Kimi K3, launched in July 2026, features 2.8 trillion parameters and a 1-million-token context window. It is currently the world's largest open-weight model, allowing developers to download and run it independently of API access.

Moonshot AI was founded by Yang Zhilin, a former Google researcher and Tsinghua professor. Its list of backers includes Alibaba, Tencent, and China Mobile.

The company is reportedly in preliminary discussions with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google regarding potential revenue-sharing arrangements. If finalized, this would represent the first instance of a Chinese AI firm engaging in such agreements with major US cloud providers.

In the broader market, Moonshot AI competes with firms such as DeepSeek, valued at approximately $74 billion, and Z.AI, valued at roughly $66 billion.
