# Shein Targets $26.5 Billion Valuation in Hong Kong IPO

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

Fast-fashion retailer Shein plans to raise approximately $1.7 billion through a Hong Kong initial public offering, reflecting a valuation significantly lower than previous private-market peaks amid increased market competition.

Shein is preparing to price its initial public offering in Hong Kong at a valuation of roughly $26.5 billion. The deal is expected to raise about $1.7 billion, with shares priced at HK$48.56, placing the offering near the midpoint of the company's marketed range of HK$47.60 to HK$49.50.

This valuation represents a decline from the company's $66 billion valuation in 2023 and is approximately one-quarter of the nearly $100 billion peak reached in private markets in 2022. The company faces challenges including slower revenue growth, weaker earnings, shrinking margins, higher trade costs, and increased online competition.

The IPO, which launched on Monday, saw its order book fully covered by Tuesday. While institutional and retail subscription rates are scheduled for publication on Monday, Alvin Cheung of Prudential Brokerage noted that retail demand has been less robust. Trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is set to begin on Tuesday.

Shein intends to allocate 80% of the proceeds toward technology improvements and the expansion of its brand and global reach. Additionally, the company has committed to paying up to $3.5 billion in cash to investors from prior private funding rounds. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan are serving as joint sponsors for the offering.
