# Spot Bitcoin ETFs Record $462M in Net Outflows Amid Rate Hike Expectations

> Editorial content, written by CryptoResearch.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $462.7 million in net outflows between September 8 and 11, reversing nearly half of the previous week's gains as markets price in an 87% chance of a rate hike.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced their most difficult week in months, recording $462.7 million in net outflows from September 8 to September 11. This shift follows a period of strong demand, where the previous week saw $987 million in inflows, including a single-day total of $730.9 million on September 3.

The selling pressure intensified on September 10, which saw $282.6 million in outflows during that session alone. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB product saw the largest impact, accounting for $164.3 million of the daily total. Grayscale’s GBTC, BlackRock’s IBIT, and Fidelity’s FBTC also reported significant redemptions.

Bitcoin’s price moved lower during this period, sliding from approximately $77,362 to $76,816. The market sentiment appears tied to the upcoming September 16 FOMC meeting, with traders pricing in an 87% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike.

The expectation of higher rates has pushed Treasury yields higher, which typically increases the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like Bitcoin and strengthens the dollar. This environment has led institutional investors to reduce their exposure to risk assets.

Despite the recent outflows, the broader outlook for spot Bitcoin ETFs remains substantial. Cumulative net inflows since the January 2024 launch have exceeded $55 billion. Total assets under management for the category are estimated between $97 billion and $148 billion, meaning the recent $462 million outflow accounts for less than 1% of the total AUM.
