# XRP Ledger Prepares for Batch V1.1 Upgrade Following Security Overhaul

The XRP Ledger is nearing the activation of the Batch V1.1 amendment, a feature designed to group multiple transactions into a single atomic operation, following an extensive security review.

Asset managers and commercial projects are preparing to integrate the upcoming Batch V1.1 feature on the XRP Ledger. The upgrade allows users to group up to eight transactions together, ensuring that either all transactions in the batch settle or the entire group fails.

Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, noted that the feature is particularly useful for delivery-versus-payment use cases, where the movement of an asset and its corresponding payment must occur simultaneously. Additionally, the tool could allow exchanges, wallets, and marketplaces to bundle service fees directly into customer transactions.

The amendment is currently in an activation countdown that began on Sept. 15. If validator support remains at or above 80 percent, the feature is projected to go live shortly after Sept. 29. Currently, 30 of the 35 tracked validators support the proposal.

This version of the feature follows a previous iteration, Batch V1.0, which was withdrawn after researchers identified a critical flaw in its signature-validation process in February. The vulnerable code never reached the live ledger, and no funds were exposed.

In response to the discovery, the team redesigned parts of the authorization model and expanded the security review process. This included internal adversarial testing, AI-assisted analysis, a Sherlock attack contest, and assessments by security firms Halborn and Common Prefix. The current implementation, included in xrpld version 3.3.0, is the result of these efforts.

Akinyele stated that some projects are already building with the feature in mind, allowing them to move closer to production once the amendment is active. Further details regarding specific partners and launch timing are expected to be shared once plans are finalized.
