AMD Raises 2030 Market Outlook to $3 Trillion Amid AI Growth
AMD has increased its 2030 total addressable market forecast to $3 trillion, citing an accelerating AI investment cycle that is driving demand for GPUs, server CPUs, and AI-enabled PCs.

AMD has significantly upgraded its long-term market outlook, projecting that its total addressable market for high-performance computing will reach $3 trillion by 2030. This represents a $1 trillion increase from the estimate provided by the company in July.
CFO Jean Hu shared the updated forecast at Citi’s Global TMT Conference on September 8. The revision is driven by what the company describes as an AI super investment cycle, characterized by rising capital expenditure across server CPUs, GPUs, and AI PCs.
The server CPU segment saw a notable adjustment, with AMD now estimating its value at approximately $220 billion by 2030, compared to a previous projection of $60 billion. This follows comments from CEO Lisa Su in August, who identified the data-center AI accelerator market as a $1.4 trillion opportunity by the same year.
AMD’s data center business has become a primary revenue driver, contributing $6.7 billion in Q2 2026. This figure represents 58% of the company's total revenue and a 107% increase year-on-year. Management anticipates that data center revenue will more than double by 2027.
To support its growth strategy, the company plans to release the MI450 accelerator this quarter, targeting the AI inference workload market. While the company maintains a broad portfolio including CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing, it faces competition from Nvidia, Intel, and custom silicon initiatives from cloud providers like Google and Amazon.
AMD’s ability to meet these projections remains tied to its manufacturing reliance on TSMC. Any potential disruptions to foundry capacity could impact the company's output.
