The scale of the movement on Binance stood out against the broader market, where aggregate netflow across all exchanges averaged 877 BTC per day during that week. Stablecoin activity also spiked, with Binance averaging 48,230 daily deposit transactions for the week ending September 16, a 190% increase over the quarterly baseline.
Bitcoin price action followed the inflow, with the asset climbing to $76,152 on September 16. Meanwhile, net realized profit and loss dropped to $31.8 million, an 89% decline week-over-week. This decrease in realized profits suggests that the BTC moving onto exchanges was not being sold at a gain.
The activity took place amid anticipated Federal Reserve policy decisions. Interestingly, the Binance inflows diverged from institutional trends, as spot ETF vehicles recorded outflows on September 15.
