Apple Briefly Hits $5 Trillion Market Cap Milestone
Apple reached a $5 trillion valuation in July, becoming the second public company to hit the mark after Nvidia, driven by its strategic approach to AI and recent hardware releases.

Apple reached a $5 trillion market cap on July 28, with shares peaking at $342.89 to push its valuation to approximately $5.036 trillion during intraday trading. This milestone makes Apple the second public company to achieve the valuation, following Nvidia, which first hit the mark in October 2025.
As of late September, Apple’s market cap is roughly $4.96 trillion, with shares trading between $339 and $340. Nvidia currently holds a valuation of about $5.5 trillion.
Apple’s strategy differs from other tech peers by focusing on partnerships rather than heavy investment in AI infrastructure. By collaborating with Google and other providers, the company integrates AI features into its ecosystem while avoiding significant capital expenditure.
Year-to-date in 2026, Apple shares have risen by approximately 25%. On July 17, the company briefly surpassed Nvidia as the world’s most valuable public company, with a valuation of about $4.88 trillion compared to Nvidia’s $4.86 trillion.
Recent product launches, including the iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone Duo, helped drive a share price increase of more than 7%. Analysts also point to the company’s services business, which includes the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple TV+, and financial services, as a source of recurring revenue that supports its market valuation.
The $5 trillion threshold is significant, as it exceeds the GDP of Japan. While other companies like Microsoft and Amazon remain in the multi-trillion dollar range, the gap between those valuations and the $5 trillion mark has remained substantial.
