Bitcoin Cash Rallies 28% as Institutional Product Interest Grows

Bitcoin Cash surged to lead the top 100 assets by market cap, driven by news of upcoming CME futures and a Grayscale spot ETF filing.

Bitcoin Cash jumped 28% over the last 24 hours, outperforming all other assets in the top 100 by market capitalization. The rally pushed the price to intraday highs between $330 and $347, bringing the asset's market cap to between $6 billion and $7 billion.

Trading volume for the session topped $1 billion. The move follows a similar pattern from August 2026, when the asset gained 29% amid broader macroeconomic conditions.

The primary catalyst for the current price action is an announcement from CME Group regarding plans to launch Bitcoin Cash futures contracts on October 19, 2026. The exchange intends to offer standard contracts of 250 BCH alongside micro contracts of 25 BCH, pending regulatory approval.

Additional momentum stems from a September 11 filing by Grayscale to convert its existing BCH Trust into a spot ETF for trading on NYSE Arca. Grayscale previously utilized this conversion model for its Bitcoin trust, which facilitated significant capital inflows.

While the BCH protocol undergoes annual updates for scalability and smart contract functionality, these developments were not linked to the recent price action. Instead, the move appears to be a sentiment-driven trade centered on the potential for regulated institutional infrastructure.

With a circulating supply of approximately 20.09 million coins, the asset is nearing its 21 million hard cap. If regulators approve both the CME futures and the Grayscale ETF, Bitcoin Cash would gain access to a broader range of institutional market tools.

Traders are now focused on the October 19 launch date. Because regulatory approval is not guaranteed, any delays or rejections could impact the current price, which has been fluctuating between $300 and $340. Market participants are also monitoring whether the current volume represents long-term positioning or short-term momentum trading.
