Bitcoin Price Levels to Watch Ahead of US Economic Data

Bitcoin is trading near key cost-basis levels for ETF holders as the market prepares for a series of US economic reports on Wednesday.

Bitcoin rebounded above $83,000 on Sept. 29 after hitting an intraday low of $82,775.94. The price action brings the asset close to a threshold that could shift the profitability of the average Bitcoin ETF holder as the market awaits upcoming US inflation and economic data.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart estimated the average ETF holder’s cost basis at $81,722 on Sept. 21. A decline of roughly 2.2% from the mid-$83,000 range would test this level. While individual investor cost bases vary, a move through this mark may influence trading behavior.

Other technical levels remain in focus. A Glassnode report from Sept. 23 identified an $84,000 to $85,000 zone as a significant cluster of long-term holder supply. Additionally, analyst Axel Adler Jr. calculated the 365-day moving average at $80,500 on Sept. 22. A drop below $81,722 followed by a test of the annual moving average would place the price below two notable reference points.

Market participants are looking toward Wednesday for economic updates, including the ADP private employment report, personal income and outlays data, and the third estimate of second-quarter GDP. These releases, alongside an annual update of national and regional economic accounts, may impact Treasury yields and influence Bitcoin's price volatility.

Traders are monitoring how Bitcoin reacts to these figures, particularly in relation to the $81,722 ETF cost estimate. If inflation data comes in hotter than expected and pushes yields higher, a move below this level could shift the average ETF position into loss territory. Conversely, a softer reading could see Bitcoin attempt to reclaim the $84,000 to $85,000 supply zone.

The market is currently assessing whether price holds above or below these estimated levels once the initial volatility from the data releases subsides. Bitcoin is down 0.79% over the past 24 hours, with a market cap of $1.68 trillion and a 24-hour trading volume of $26.18 billion.
