BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust Records Significant Daily Inflows

The iShares Bitcoin Trust experienced a nearly 6% price increase alongside $300 million in daily net inflows, reinforcing its position as the primary recipient of institutional capital among US spot Bitcoin ETFs.

The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) recorded a price gain of nearly 6% following a day of approximately $300 million in net inflows. This performance highlights the fund's continued ability to attract institutional capital, often outpacing the broader US spot Bitcoin ETF category.

Data from August 27 shows IBIT secured $277.6 million in net inflows, a figure that surpassed the $242 million total net inflow for the entire US spot Bitcoin ETF category on that date. This discrepancy occurred as other funds experienced outflows. A similar trend was observed on September 2, when IBIT attracted $115.4 million, contributing significantly to the category's total net inflow of $101.1 million.

The fund currently holds an estimated $60 billion in assets under management, representing roughly 60% of the $97 billion to $100 billion total assets held by the US spot Bitcoin ETF sector. Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT has accumulated over $63 billion in net inflows. During August, the broader category saw total inflows of approximately $3.5 billion, with IBIT capturing between 70% and 90% of flows during peak periods.

While other entities such as Fidelity’s FBTC and Ark 21Shares’ ARKB have secured capital, IBIT maintains a dominant market share. BlackRock manages over $10 trillion across its platform.

The sustained inflows into these products are viewed as providing a structural demand floor for Bitcoin, which has traded in the mid-to-high $70,000 range. This market structure differs from previous cycles, where institutional investors relied on futures contracts, custody solutions, or trust vehicles that often traded at premiums or discounts to net asset value.
