Hyperliquid Gains Institutional Attention Following Large OTC HYPE Sale
Hyperliquid is seeing increased institutional interest, highlighted by a $337 million OTC transaction and expanded custody arrangements with BitGo.

Institutional capital is flowing into the cryptocurrency sector, with the decentralized perpetual-futures protocol Hyperliquid emerging as a focal point for allocators. The platform has drawn significant attention following a large over-the-counter sale of its native token, HYPE.
The transaction involved 3.75 million HYPE, valued at approximately $337 million, executed outside of public exchanges. This move comes as Hyperliquid’s derivatives open interest approaches $14.3 billion, signaling a recovery for the protocol following the market crash in October 2025.
Confidence in the platform is further supported by Grayscale, which operates a regulated Hyperliquid product. Grayscale has expanded its custody arrangements to include BitGo, a move seen as an indicator of institutional trust in the protocol.
Prediction markets are currently pricing in a rising probability of HYPE reaching $100 by the end of 2026, with current sentiment at 78.5% for that outcome.
Traders are monitoring future announcements regarding technological advancements or new partnerships from Hyperliquid, as well as the performance of Grayscale’s product. Market participants are also keeping a close watch on derivatives open interest levels and any further large-scale institutional transactions to gauge ongoing sentiment.
