Litecoin Outperforms Broader Market as Network Activity Surges
Litecoin has bucked the trend of the wider crypto market, gaining nearly 8% over the last 24 hours while major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum faced downward pressure.

Litecoin is showing strength against the broader market, with the token climbing nearly 8% to reach $66. This performance marks its highest level since January and brings its monthly gains to 37%, the best showing since November 2024.
The move stands in contrast to the rest of the top 10 coins, including Bitcoin, which dropped 3% over the same 24-hour period. Other major assets like ETH, XRP, and SOL have also lagged behind the recent momentum seen in LTC.
The Litecoin Foundation pointed to a surge in on-chain activity as a potential driver for the price action. The network processed over $1 billion in value, or more than 17 million Litecoin, within a 24-hour window. The foundation noted this volume represents a significant portion of the token's market cap and highlights a growing use case for the network.
Another factor potentially influencing the price is the upcoming reward halving, scheduled for next July. The event will reduce block rewards to 3.125 LTC. Historically, the asset has shown a tendency to bottom out between six to 12 months before these quadrennial events.
Technical indicators also appear constructive, with chart analysts noting a golden cross between the 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Additionally, the price has successfully cleared resistance at $60.60.
While the exact catalyst for the outperformance remains unclear, the price increase has been accompanied by rising capital inflows into derivatives tied to the token.
