Privacy Coins Outperform Broader Crypto Market According to Glassnode Data
Privacy coins have recorded a 213% increase since the October 2025 peak of Bitcoin, emerging as the only crypto sector trading above those levels.

Data from Glassnode indicates that the privacy coin sector has experienced significant growth, with its total market capitalization among the top 200 assets rising from $7.1 billion to $33.6 billion over the last twelve months. This performance contrasts with the broader market, where Bitcoin is down 36% from its October 2025 peak, and the median top-200 asset has declined by 58%.
The privacy sector's growth has accelerated recently, with approximately $13 billion of the total increase occurring within the last 30 days. During this same period, the sector recorded a 90% gain, contributing to a market rebound that saw 91.5% of top-200 assets increase in value.
Zcash has been the primary driver of this sector growth, delivering a 2,496% year-to-date return. The asset has moved from the 82nd position in market rankings to 7th, currently representing about 62% of the total privacy sector market capitalization. Even when excluding Zcash, the remaining privacy assets have posted an 85% gain over the past year.
Monero is also noted for its relative strength, remaining one of the few assets in the top 200 trading above its October 2025 price. All eight privacy coins with at least one year of price history have recorded gains during this period.
The report highlights potential concentration risk, noting that the sector's $33.6 billion valuation is heavily dependent on Zcash. A significant decline in the price of Zcash could impact the performance metrics of the entire privacy category.
