Robinhood Unveils Crypto Perpetual Futures and AI Trading Agents
Robinhood announced a major product expansion at the 2026 HOOD Summit, introducing crypto perpetual futures, AI-driven trading assistants, and extended market hours.
Robinhood revealed a significant shift in its platform strategy at the 2026 HOOD Summit in Houston on September 29. The company is moving toward a full-spectrum trading model, introducing tools aimed at active traders including AI assistants, crypto perpetual futures, and expanded trading hours.
The platform plans to launch crypto perpetual futures for US users in the coming months. These contracts will allow traders to take long or short positions on tokens such as BTC and ETH with leverage up to 10x.
Robinhood Agents, an AI-powered assistant built with models from OpenAI and Anthropic, will provide automated trading support. A feature known as Loops will allow users to set standing instructions for these agents to execute trades based on specific conditions.
The company also plans to open its platform to third-party AI agents. Infrastructure upgrades, branded as Helios, are intended to support these new capabilities.
Market access is expanding as well. Robinhood announced plans for weekend equities trading on a curated list of stocks and ETFs, expected in early 2027 pending regulatory review. Additionally, extended options trading hours will begin in October 2026, running from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.
New trading features include higher intraday margin limits and one-cancels-other orders. Through a partnership with Cboe, the platform will also introduce earnings contracts, allowing users to take positions on specific company performance metrics.
A new social layer, Robinhood Social, will be integrated into the app. This includes a live earnings experience and support for multi-display setups to assist with real-time monitoring.
