Gate.io TradFi Desk Hits $17 Billion in September Volume
Gate.io saw its traditional finance trading volume climb to $16.86 billion in September, driven largely by a surge in demand for gold and silver.
Gate.io reported a significant increase in its traditional finance trading desk activity for September, reaching over $16.86 billion in volume. This figure represents a notable rise from the $12.58 billion recorded in August.
The growth was primarily fueled by metals trading, with gold and silver accounting for 54% of the platform's total TradFi activity. By September 23, cumulative volume for metals alone had reached $18.3 billion, surpassing the total TradFi output for the entire month of August.
The platform currently lists 1,022 TradFi instruments, including commodities contracts, tokenized equities, and CFDs. Daily trading volumes throughout September frequently reached or exceeded $1.6 billion, with some peak weeks seeing aggregate volumes surpass $20 billion.
Gate.io now holds approximately 10.7% of the tracked market share based on August data, positioning it as the third-largest platform globally by TradFi volume. From January through August 2026, the platform recorded a cumulative TradFi trading volume of $135.5 billion.
The recent activity follows a U-shaped recovery pattern for the platform's 2026 volumes, which saw a dip in the early summer months before rebounding. Beyond metals, equities linked to semiconductors and SpaceX have also attracted significant volume, creating a barbell profile of safe-haven assets and high-beta tech exposure.
