Zano Outlines Recovery Plan Following Emergency Chain Rollback

Zano is planning to use developer and team funds to compensate users after an emergency rollback erased a month of transactions, though specific details on eligibility and timing remain pending.

The Zano team has announced a plan to use its developer fund, personal funds from team members, and contributions to support users impacted by a recent emergency chain rollback. This action effectively removed approximately one month of transactions that had previously been confirmed on the network.

The rollback, which was detailed in an emergency release on Sept. 27, restarted the blockchain from block 3,833,000, dated Aug. 26 at 15:50 UTC. Any transactions recorded on the chain after that point are no longer present on the recovered version of the network.

According to the team, the decision followed a vulnerability in a Gateway Address that allowed unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar (fUSD) to enter circulation. The team stated that wallet spend keys and general transaction privacy were not compromised. However, the rollback cannot reverse payments that were already settled using assets like USDT or DAI on other networks.

While the team has identified potential funding sources, it has not yet provided a guarantee for full coverage of losses. There is currently no published timetable for payments, and the specific rules for claim eligibility have not been released.

The team advised users that no formal claims process is live at this time. Users are encouraged to save their transaction IDs and records of trades or exchange activity. While users can open support tickets to document their cases, the team noted that no claims can be preapproved until official instructions are published.

The network is now reported to be stable, and the team confirmed that ZANO supply and emission will remain unchanged. A full post-mortem regarding the Gateway Address flaw is still pending.

Users are instructed to update their wallets and verify the final status of any payments on the recovered chain before attempting to resend them. The team is currently working with exchanges, wallets, and payment services to facilitate the transition, though each service provider must independently update its systems.
