OpenAI Targets $30B Funding Round at $1.4 Trillion Valuation
OpenAI is seeking $30 billion in fresh capital at a $1.4 trillion valuation after pushing back its IPO plans beyond 2026.

OpenAI is looking to raise at least $30 billion in new funding, aiming for a valuation of approximately $1.4 trillion. This move comes as the company officially delays its initial public offering beyond 2026.
The decision to postpone the public listing was confirmed by CEO Sam Altman. He pointed to mounting safety concerns surrounding artificial intelligence and the complexities of managing increasingly powerful systems as primary reasons for the delay.
Despite the shift in IPO plans, the company is seeing significant growth in its commercial operations. Its annualized revenue run rate surpassed $40 billion over the summer, marking a 70% increase since July.
OpenAI is also expanding its product suite to capture more market share. Recent additions include a $500 subscription tier and an always-on AI agent known as Dots.
This latest fundraising effort follows a previous round in March, where the company raised $122 billion at a valuation of $852 billion.
Competition in the AI sector remains intense, with rival Anthropic preparing for a public listing in November. Anthropic’s IPO prospectus suggests a potential valuation exceeding $2 trillion, with the company planning to allocate $518 billion toward infrastructure and cloud computing.
